I am a violinist and conductor originally from Boston, Massachusetts. I received my degree from the New England Conservatory of Music as a student of Donald Weilerstein. As it is quite late to be submitting my information, I would kindly ask you to review my youtube teaching clips which I have provided below.
As an enthusiastic musician, I have enjoyed a large assortment of musical activities ranging from conducting a youth orchestra, and serving as the artistic director of a very strong and successful chamber music program. I think in addition to my musical experience, I have a very strong sense for administrative work required in a position like the one you have posted. I am seeking a place where I can contribute to the growth of a music program. I have included my biographical material, but let me underscore the following positions and responsibilities:
· Conducting: Conductor of the Nashoba Youth Orchestra Chamber Orchestra (nashobayouthorchestra.org)
· Artistic Director: Music Director of the Young Artist Chamber Program at the Nashoba Youth Orchestras.
· Faculty: Violin faculty position at the Ipswich Highschool
· Audition Adjudication: Judge for MMEA Junior District Auditions.
· Masterclass Instructor: Highfield Series, Cape Symphony, Studio of Jody Harmon

My heart lies in teaching. As an enthusiastic and energetic teacher, there is no greater satisfaction for me than being able to nurture the skills and talents of musicians. I have been blessed with many performance opportunities, but none are more special to me than my work as a conductor, coach, and private instructor. Here are some highlights from my performance career.
· Solo Concerts: Dorchester Symphony (Beethoven concerto), Nashua Symphony (Saint-Saens violin concerto), Cape Cod Symphony (Triple Concerto by Beethoven), Metrowest Symphony (Barber violin Concerto)
· Chamber Music: Member of Award Winning NEC honors String Quartet, Performed in Carnegie Hall with piano trio after winning first prize in a competition sponsored by the International Chamber Foundation. Coaches have included Itzhak Perlman, and the Cleveland Quartet.
· Orchestral experience: Member of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival under the leadership of Christophe Eshenbach. Concermaster of the Walnut Hill School orchestra, and member of Youth Philharmonic orchestra under the direction of Benjamin Zander.
Sincerely,
Benjamin Thacher
Remarks from Roberta McGuire: President of Nashoba Youth Orchestra
“Ben Thacher has been a fantastic addition to NYO's artistic staff. He is
a very talented musicians and he has
an incredible passion for music which he adeptly and most enthusiastically
shares with his orchestra on a weekly basis and offers free
sessions before rehearsals to help those who need extra help or simply
wish to hone their skills. He has a unique gift of being able to
quickly identify the root of a musical problem, correct it and move on quickly.
His contributionsto the Nashoba Youth Orchestra have been both numerous, far reaching, and profound. The Chamber Orchestra's quality is a much higher level than it has been
in prior years due to his contributions.”
